Saddle up

Disclamer: we don't accept any liability for the routes below. They are solely a means to provide you guidance in finding your way, they are in no way an organised event. You and only you are responsible to judge if under any given circumstances it is responsible to ride the roads indicated. Circumstances like weather or the condition of the road surface may change over time. Always be well prepared, wear a crash helmet and behave responsibly.

If you're not used to some serious climbing: as an indication, add 25 kilometres for each 1.000 metres of ascend to get a comparable low-land ride (so 100 km with 1.000 metres of ascend would compare to about 125 km without climbing).

The mountainbike rides generally can be done with a gravel bike with wide and coarse tires (for example Pirelli Cinturato M 45 mm) and good bike handling skills. Be extra careful in off-road descents.

You're invited: Grades Bike

Every sunday morning (time depends on the season and expected temperatures) our cycling group makes a ride of about 3 to 4 hours. The group consists of about 50% electric mountainbikes and 50% conventional mtb's. Mostly the number of participants is between 6 and 12. The average speed is generally between 18 and 20 km/h.

You're invited to join us, we might take you to some surprising spots. If you contact us through this website at least the day before, we can provide you with the right departure time.

Marco Pantani

This round trip takes you to Poggio Murella, a small hill top village in Tuscany where Italian cycling hero, also known as 'il Pirata', the pirate, had a home. In the village, a monument for Pantani has been erected and the road from Saturnia up to the village now bears the name 'Il muro del Pirata', or 'the Pirate's wall'. And a wall it is.

On the flanks of Monte Penna

This is a beautiful ride through the southern Tuscan hills, mostly on very quiet roads. You'll ride up to Selvena with amazing views over a beautiful valley. Once over the pass you'll proceed to Castell'Azzara before descending again and returning in Lazio via San Valentino and Onano.

To the top: Monte Amiata

This round trip takes you from a parking lot in Sorano to the top of Monte Amiata over quiet country roads. If you really want to torture your leggs, you could also start in Gradoli, this will add 34 km to the ride. This route takes the easiest road to the top, from Piancastagnaio. Feeling confident? Take the road that goes up from between Santa Fiora and Castel del Piano.

The lake and nothing but the lake

Fancy a nice ride around the lake? It takes you as much as possible over roads close to the lake, avoiding main roads as much as possible (unfortunately not possible everywhere). On a gravel bike, be particularly cautious not to ruin your wheels (and yourself) in the descent towards Parco Turona, there are lumps of rock everywhere (about km 33.5).
